Job Description

  • Receives and coordinates all referrals to include notification of insurance providers for prior authorization and services covered. Assures that all admission procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
  • Coordinate referrals and admissions, and manages occupancy levels of the hospital. Works with the Central Business Office regarding admissions; and notifies all facility divisions of admissions in a timely fashion as indicated and alerts department heads of projected changes. Maintain working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and assist with managed care referral process.
  • Reviews daily logs and notes from Case Managers to assure continuity of care, documentation of nursing process, appropriateness of intervention/action and timeliness of documentation. Compile patient referral information and keep records concerning insurance negotiations, contracts, etc.
  • Uses discretion and independent judgment in handling patient or physician complaints received, documents and forwards to appropriate administrative staff.
  • Communicates with Director of Community Relations any information received from physician, patient or employees about the patient's care or needs. Analyzes situations, identifies problems, identifies and evaluates alternative courses of action.
  • Strives to maintain positive internal and external customer service relationships. Demonstrates effective communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking questions when clarification is needed.
  • Plan and organize work effectively and ensure its completion. Maintains database of medical contacts and community resources. Proficiency with data entry, and computer skills for generation of daily office communication.
  • Meets project and productivity requirements. Demonstrates initiative to continually improve work processes.
