Job Description

ARCCHJ, Northeast Arkansas Premier LTACH, is looking for a Coding Specialist to assign appropriate  ICD codes to diagnoses and procedures of patients. The Coding Specialist will also perform reviews, coding, assembling and analyzing of discharged patients medical records.  The position will code for multiple hospitals in the Community Hospital Corporate family.
Job Functions:
  • Mange the daily operations of coding for assigned hospitals ensuring timely and accurate coding of medical records.
  • Assign DRG’s on admissions and throughout the patients stay, including discharge
  • Accurately abstract each medical record.
  • Maintain a DRG accuracy of 95% and code accuracy of 91%
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology, human disease process, anatomy and physiology.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of ICD-10_CM and ICD-10-PCS .

Job Requirements

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology required.



  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.  American Health Information Management (AHIMA) Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or American Academy of Professional Coder (AAPC) Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Coder – Hospital (CPC-H) Coding Certification required.



  • 2+ years of coding experience in an acute setting required.  LTACH experience preferred.
