STAFF ACCOUNTANT - part time 

Principal Accountability 
This part-time staff accountant position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers, performs journal entries, account reconciliation, financial analysis, and prepares audit schedules. 
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Skills and Knowledge

  • Certified Public Accountant preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate accounting issues, collect data, establish facts and make recommendations
  • Ability to work with people in such a manner as to build high morale
  • Ability to communicate and relate well with multiple audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience
  • Three to five years experience, preferably in public accounting
  • Healthcare experience a plus 
Major Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly reconciliations between the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers to ensure accuracy of accounting transactions
  • Perform detail review of the general ledger entries originating from the purchasing and accounts payable areas each month ensuring expenses are recorded in the proper period and account. Review also ensures that no items meeting the criteria for capital expenditure were expensed.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries to accurately record accounting transactions.
  • Perform bank account reconciliations.
  • Maintain fixed asset ledger and depreciation system.
  • Analyze financial statements in terms of actual to budgeted dollars and volume.  Perform detailed review of expense statements.
  • Assist hospitals with budget analysis and research as requested.
  • Prepare audit schedules as needed for external audit
 General Duties

  • Represent Community Health Corporation at designated meetings.
  • Participates in seminars and conferences to keep abreast of technical and legal developments in the accounting and finance field
  • Upholds and supports the company’s mission, goals, and objectives.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • Minimum 3 years accounting experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate accounting issues, collect data, establish facts and make recommendations
